yesterday was my very first shift as an rc partner.



this was only 1/3 of the crowd yesterday.
but the shift was alright.
partners were awesome and welcoming, haha.
it was super tiring though to work there.

after work, waited for love to finish his shift.
we headed down to park his bike at esplanade before proceeding to marina square to watch transformers.



these producers/directors are so smart.
in the midst of maybe thousands of robots fighting,
suddenly they did a close-up on megan fox running with her sexy boobs almost pouring out from her bra (if she's wearing any).
very good strategy there.
overall, the movie was alright only.
it didnt leave an impact on me like how night at the museum did.
love and i were confused in at different parts of the movie.
chey. i thought he understood the whole movie.
OKAY FINE. the movie sucked, but megan fox was god damn hot.

love was tired, i know.
but it was really kind of him to accompany me yesterday (although we quarrelled about cranberry walnut toast during work when it was slamming with customers).
oh well, we'd better spend quality time before my school starts, and before he starts work at cathay.

love was adamant about me coming, assuring me that he'll send me home and stuff.
i bet he knows perfectly that by me coming, both of us might end up drinking teh gajah at ktm and reach home at 5am or something.
that musnt be the case because i have to report to school at 7.15am for the primary five camp (bummer! more about this next time!).

so this morning, i woke up thinking, "okay. r2's already closed."
i have to make a mental note out of this just in case i blindly make my way to r2 after school or something.
im kental that way.

so yesterday was totally unplanned.

on friday night, love called me and we were crapping so much on the phone from 3am to 7am!
he was like, "baby, tomorrow i nk amek mc ah. weekend asyik burn je!"

haha so he got his long-anticipated mc, and we decided to go to jb citysquare!
i was excited ah like always.
although i have a house in jb and all, i've never stepped into citysqaure at all!

dinner was at swensens, and love was unhappy that the pizza was so so small.
if we had known, we'd have eaten at pizza hut or something.
after that very anti-climax.

"we go back singapore ah. we find nice spot to chill."

so once we reached singapore, we started brainstorming on where to chill.
it was already 9pm, mind you!
to me ah, in singapore the only places that operate 24 hours are ntuc extra hypermart at jp, starbucks raffles city and mustafa centre.

all not to our liking.

so he very smart ah.
we went to liang court starbucks which closes at 12am.
then we perangai again.
we sat at liang court starbucks until 12.30am.
i think the baristas must be cursing us under their breaths. so exciting.
we webcamed with nurul, gossiped about other people like nobody's business.

after that, perangai again!
we walked to fort canning.
both of us super adventurous, i tell you!
carried me on his back up the stairs la, running up the thousand flights of stairs la, reading the map in the dark la, pure nonsense!
when we found the pull-up bars, we got excited for no reason!

if you realise ah, it was already 1am, still no pictures taken.

then we lost interest in fort canning.
so we went to marina barrage! my first time, woohoo!
at 1.30am, the rooftop had many people!
wah, singaporeans sure know how to enjoy their saturday nights.

then at 3am, someone decided to take pictures ah.
like hello? muke very basi and disgusting, then you wanna take pictures?

so anyway.



his face needs to be slapped.
he only powernapped for like 2 hours? haha.



wah by this time, i damn irritated already.

then when peoplesmile widely for the camera already,
my hand decided that it was too short to capture both of our faces together.

then there were three guys giving out free ice creams! at 4am!



then love super excited. must smoke and eat free ice cream at the same time.

we left marina barrage at 5am.
luckily when i reached home, everyone was asleep, heh.

at the end of the day, good memories and good times spent together will always be etched in our hearts and minds.

today was sb-r2's customers' appreciation party.
but i know partners came just to bond with one another before we get separated to different stores.

today i woke up and i went,

"shit. r2's closing down in six days."

so this will be an emotional entry.
should there be any r2 partners reading this, get ready tissue papers okay.

my journey in starbucks started officially on 14th february 2008.
while others were busy holding flowers at orchard road with their respective beaus,
i was diligently attending training at the commonwealth headquarters.
it was just pure coincidence trying out for starbucks.
i swear i was set on applying for coffeebean at kallang leisure park.
interview with the coffeebean manager was already set, but she bloody was on having her off day on my interview date.
so took the bus, and coincidentally alighted opposite sb-r2.

i never knew applying for a part-time job there changed my life.

samuel hired me on the spot.
an assistant store manager at that point of time, he was also keen on being my learning coach.
i really respected him as one, although there might be ups and downs along the way.
and thanks to him too, i had the opportunity to be a learning coach and a coffeemaster - all within six months being a barista.

and then there's noreena.
she was the first manager i worked with after being a certified barista who just clocked in sixty hours of training.
and from there, a beautiful friendship started.
i really look up to her as a good friend and a commendable manager.
we might not be meeting up as often due to her graveyard shifts at rc, but i still love her (:

kenneth was posted to my store as store manager three months after me.
it was really awkward at first working with him because he was all perky and chirpy.
and not to mention flirty with the pretty female customers too.
but he was awesome as a store manager, chinchai in a good way.
i never knew how close we were until that very day when he sat down with me and started to tell me his family problems with his wife.
a 39-year old confiding in a 21-year old!

my first learner was shammy.
shammy has practically been there for me.
spending a lot of time together in store really bonded us two together.
we have a lot of common friends which we laugh about,
and i was really touched by her willingness to lend me her listening ears when i had problems with rasyid back then.
it was really hard committing my time to train in starbucks but having problems with my relationship but shammy made it all easy (:

my next two learners were zack and wilson.
zack might have left starbucks to pursue a part-time career in selling bubble tea at tampines but the memories we have of each other are still etched in my mind.
wilson, the sweeter version of zack, was always there to offer me advice like,
"WHY MUST YOU GO BUY IPOD TOUCH FOR HIM? WORTH IT MEH??"
it was the nitty gritty details that made me remember him.

next is linda.
linda is actually a partner of wilkie edge,
and i was entrusted by samuel to train her to be a powerful barista.
she is the most bimbotic and most blur learner i can ever have!
even until now, although we are working in different stores, we still made it a point to drop by each other's stores.
she will be one of those learners i will always remember. always remember.

oh, speaking of which, she dropped by r2 that day with her boyfriend.


she loves to sit at the dustbin. dont know why.

if anyone's wondering, the china auntie cut my hair wrongly. hence the china bangs.

khairi joined starbucks as a full-time barista in november.
i swear i only heard his name back then but never knew who he was.
he was down with chicken pox in december and it was only towards the end of the year that i got a chance to work with him.
this guy was detested when he first started.
so action! dont want talk to people, always a loner.
but im glad he opened up in due time, and started to send ferrero rocher to my house by post (:
hahaha. love you so much, chicken!

r2, i dont think i'll be able to find another store like this.

my holidays have been spent to the fullest so far.
apart from starbucks twice every week, and meeting love on our common off days,
i've been staying home - catching up with mum and doing a lot of reading.

tell me, what could have been better?

last thursday was sb-r2's last store meeting.
yes, our store is closing down.
right now im contemplating whwther to quit for good, or let myself be posted to sb-rc.
well, i thought the store meeting was going to be an emotional one.
but everyone was so jovial and hopeful that we would be sent to sb-ion when ion orchard opens.

no harm in hoping a bit hor?

after store meeting, love brought me to ktm for dinner.
he was persistent in showing me what teh gajah looks like.
i havent heard of teh gajah, seriously.
but my curiousity died down after knowing that it's actually this:

after dinner, we went to labrador park!



when he was looking at the street directory, he was like, "have you been to labrador park before?"

of course i said no. i had no recollections of that place either.
but when we arrived....

..."EH! this was where i went to back then in sec two! for TAF club!"
sometimes, i really scare myself, haha.

labrador park is so pretty at night.
there were these group of school campers and a group of ahpeks and nyonyas having their karaoke session there.
really, with microphones and amplifiers complete.
but i didnt take their pictures. later kena sue.

and close to 1am, we freaking saw two mats with helmets on their heads, looking for a good spot to fish.
to fish. at 1am.

okay, asalkan they bahagia lor!

and yesterday, work ended at 5pm.
love waited for me at cityhall mrt station.
proceeded to the bike workshop at eunos and off we vroom-ed to east coast food centre.
how come i dont recall eating there before!

no pictures. mira so poor. handphone battery dying, camera not repaired yet.



then sat at waterbreaker. where i couldnt see anything even with my spectacles on.
dasar rabun malam.
we would have stayed longer if not for cockroaches landing on his bag and my shoes.

then off to mount faber park (:



the view was just... breathtakingly beautiful.
i can never thank him enough for bringing me to these wonderful places.
but of course, the company has to be superb la.

herman and i are teachers in the making, where both of us feel that we should be role models to the kids in school; but we shouldnt avoid going crazy once we step out of school at 5 or 6 in the afternoon.

today i needed his help.

herman: yes ma'am. mario (my senior teacher) wont noe. c'mon, i kept de secret abt de desperate need for pads right?

in case you're wondering, just few months back, i had asked him to get hold of a few pads for me because i was having my mensus - heavy flow!
well, he did eventually. pads all wrapped up in a used envelope found in the general office.

BATAM WAS AWESOME!

these were the little things that made the batam trip super memorable:

1) herman and aisyah trying their best to stop me from vomitting at the ferry.

2) the tour guide's atrocious english (but good knowledge on the island, i must say!).

3) fighting with irfah and herman for aisyah's nintendo ds.

4) watching night at the museum 2 for only Rp 25000 (thats freaking $3+!).

5) herman sleeping at my leg (i should have kicked him off the bed lor!).

6) the superb things i spent with only Rp 700000 (S$100 only okay!).

7) bringing hakimbo's fisheye lomo camera.

8) the company was just.... great.

for the first time, i realised i was at the right place with the right people.
