at corporation primary school...

teacher: pernahkah awak semua terjatuh semasa turun tangga, ataupun tergelincir sewaktu berjalan seperti biasa?

boy: *raises hand enthusiastically* cikgu, cikgu! saya pernah jatuh ke luar tingkap!

teacher: betul? rumah awak tingkat 2 ye?

boy: tak, cikgu! rumah saya tingkat 13!

teacher: eh? bagaimana awak boleh sembuh pula? bila awak jatuh?

boy: semalam, cikgu. *shows selamba-aku-tk-bersalah-face*

during the teacher preparatory course the other time, we teachers are encouraged not to laugh into our students' faces.
i tried to hold back my laughter, but worried that a snort might come out.
so i laughed. and laughed. and laughed.

with the rest of the primary one kids, of course.

also at corporation primary school...

teacher: ada sesiapa lagi yang ingin berkongsi cerita?

another boy: saya! saya nak!

teacher: bagus. apa dia?

another boy: pernah satu hari, saya duduk di bawah pokok di East Coast Park, cikgu. Ada buah jatuh ke atas kepala saya!

teacher: oh! buah apa yang jatuh?

another boy: watermelon, cikgu! jatuh ke atas kepala saya. terus kepala saya masuk ke dalam watermelon tu!

1) i thought watermelons never grow on trees?

2) East Coast Park ader pokok buah ke?

3) the boy looked damn serious and involved in the 'discussion'. tak sampai hati nk terbahak kat muke dier.

the teachers here are nice. the principal was super duper nice la.
and they were glad that im posted there to teach Malay.

i heard they're short of Malay teachers.

so i'll be tutoring a P6 student next week onwards.
and i have a fitness instructor from now on too.

schedule packed ke, cikgu?

"Hi, good evening Amira. Welcome to CPS! Please report to school by 7.30am tmrw. I'll receive you at the general office. Thanks, Mr Khir, senior teacher."

i hope they have nice teachers there. (:
