so i can finally breathe a sigh of relief, and concentrate on school now.
life's been a bitch, especially having to study for cmc in between lesson breaks and what-nots.

untitled

i find this picture so damn alluring, i keep laughing everytime i look at it (:

anyway, i found myself turning into an insomniac the night before cmc.
i tossed and turned in bed, only to find myself breathing to the tune of grandma's snoring.
yup, grandma's here for the week - she can even nag at me for not combing my hair at home.

ok, i have to stop digressing.

on cmc day itself, i had butterflies in my stomach.
i mean, who knows i might make up my own coffee region all of a sudden.
waited for taufiq for a good thirty minutes (who arrived an hour late for cmc).
i still dont know whether to forgive him, heh.

ok, let's cut short the story.
here i present to you, my scores for the four stations of cmc:

Four Fundamentals: 30/30
Retail Merchandising: 30/30
Bar: 36/40
Level 2 Theory Paper: 50/50

anqi told me my theory scores, and i went ballistic. heh.
and i lost marks in bar for not completing the drinks in 3 minutes. oh, and i forgot to time the espresso shots for the second drink.

such carelessness is unforgiveable!

im starving. it's either pizza hut (if i feel like splurging) or just normal homecooked food.

it's been a while since i've updated my blog prim and proper.

i can only do it after cmc, which falls on this saturday.
and of course, after i do my lesson plan for school.

right now, my brain is being divided into three.

one for cmc,
one for school and my kids,
and one for something else.

go figure, while i find time to update :)

two teachers named Amira and Aisyah were hanging around at the staff room on a hot and sticky Wednesday afternoon.

suddenly...

"Aisyah! Aku interested in the zen mozaic ah!" said Amira.

"Beli ah! $99 for 2gb! quite good bargain!" replied Aisyah enthusiastically.

so this was what i bought with my first pay.
tk fikir panjang.
most of my teaching pay went into either bank savings or paying for insurance.
in other words (to make myself feel better), i am not a spendthrift this month.

this calls for celebration.

more about my kids and the school after PSLE oral ends on Friday (:

on wednesday, i was so angry with my primary four kids.
i kept quiet eventually since they wanted to talk so much, and even gave them very difficult worksheets to do (considering that they're the weaker lot).
i didnt help them.
some came up to me and requested help.

after one whole period of reading pokemon comics under the table,
combing hair and playing guns with one another,

they then realised the existence of CIKGU AMIRA in the class.
basket.

i never talked to any of them.
i wrote down all my instructions on the board,
with the list of homework and all,

and....

.... walked out of class. that was how angry i was.

after recess they looked for me at my primary one class, and handed me a note.
it was hilarious.

update you guys next time (:

a few things to be remembered:

1) khairiyanti, a P6 student from corporation primary, actually waited for me outside the staff room, just so she can pass me the packet of sour strawberry gummy sweets. she knows i like them, and i dont know how.

2) i miss being a student. all those truancy and never-bring-my-homework-cher moments.

3) last night, someone waited for me to finish closing. i really miss him a lot.

4) i miss starbucks and my partners.

life, in my humble opinion, has never been better.

SBS Transit, SMRT submit applications for fare adjustments:

SINGAPORE : The wheels are in motion for another round of public transport fare hikes. Singapore’s two public transport operators, SBS Transit and SMRT, have submitted their applications to the Public Transport Council (PTC) for fare adjustments.

However, both companies would not give specifics as to the quantum requested.

SBS Transit and SMRT attributed the need for a fare increase to soaring energy and fuel prices.

SMRT said even a maximum fare adjustment of 3 per cent will not fully mitigate the inflationary pressures.

The company said its energy costs rose by 18 per cent to nearly S$90 million due mainly to higher electricity and diesel prices.

Diesel cost for buses amounted to more than S$42 million, 17 per cent higher than the last financial year.

SBS Transit said it is proposing to keep concession, children and students fares unchanged.

While the new fare formula allows for the maximum adjustment to be capped at 3 per cent, the PTC has said that any increase this year is likely to be less than the 1.8 per cent hike imposed last year.

Bus fares went up by 1 to 2 cents last October, while train fares remained unchanged, because the PTC deemed that SMRT had healthy profits last year.

The PTC will decide on the adjustment in September, and the new fares will take effect in October.

Separately, the Competition Commission of Singapore has rejected the Singapore School Transport Association’s application to impose a fuel surcharge and the need for a collective price recommendation.

It said guidelines restrict independent pricing decisions, which is against free competition. However, the commission has no objections to fare increases, so long as it is decided on individually by bus operators.

It added that it is monitoring the situation and will launch an investigation if it has reasons to suspect that prices are being coordinated among the school bus operators. — CNA/ms
